Me driving through the old Dalmorton convict tunnel. It wasn't actually built by convicts but rather by civilian labour. Sorry if the video isn't working.
Had a great day getting out of the house and headed down to Dalmorton, nsw, Australia for a picnic lunch and a swim. I love getting down there and spending time just enjoying it's raw beauty. It is also good to know that local council has put a stop to 4wd's from using the area as well as dirt bikes as it was becoming very detrimental to the the farmers as they were eroding river banks by going off raod at every opportunity as well as scaring they farmers cattle especially from the dirt bikes. Good move council because for their 5 mins of enjoyment they care less for the land owners or their livestock. I took some pics of the day and I'll explain what was going on on the photos. I hope you enjoy them.I was able to take the dogs today which was nice but Ralf drives me nuts. Ralf if you don't know is the white and black one the other one is Cyclone. Ralf just can't control his excitement and was just a crazy critter the whole way. Bless him.
Looks like this blog has rearranged my photos and I don't know how to fix em so bare with me. Probably good mixing them anyway. This is the grave of a woman that died in Dalmorton either in 1934 or 1904. The cemetery is roughly 2 klms out of the old town just before a cattle grid heading north. You can't see the cemetery at all any more unless you drive up a dirt track winding through the clumps of lantana and then you have to walk around the lantana to try to find the graves. A rather sad end to eternity really.
Jane Fords grave was one of the first you might find if you decide to explore the track through the cemetery.
Couldn't ask for a better spot to stop. The Mann river was up a bit from last time i was there but I can't wait to go back camping. This is where we had lunch and Ralf was chasing Cyclone.
Dylan was in the water as soon as he could and the water was wonderful
You have to love the creativity of people that live in the bush. Here are some cool letterboxes people have made.
Dylan was excited abut the trip really he was! Ha! I think Ralf was driving him nuts as well.
